Bedford Park is one of the founding neighbourhoods of North Toronto. Along with the villages of Davisville and Eglinton, it joined to form the Town of North Toronto in 1890, and that sense of a distinct, self-contained community has never left. Today it is a family-first enclave of tree-lined streets and well-kept homes running along Yonge Street north of Lawrence.

The neighbourhood’s commercial spine is the Yonge Street strip north of Lawrence, a walkable stretch of shops, cafés and everyday services that gives Bedford Park a true village main street. The streets to the west step back into quiet residential blocks of brick and stone homes, many built in the 1920s and 1930s, on generous lots with mature trees.

Architecture: The housing stock is defined by its era: solid English-style detached homes with deep front yards, alongside thoughtful renovations and rebuilds that respect the streetscape. A few blocks away, the winding lanes and estate homes of Lawrence Park begin.

Who Lives Here: Bedford Park attracts professionals and young families drawn by strong public schools, the Yonge corridor’s convenience, and a community whose village roots still show. When a good home comes up on the right street, it moves.

Shoushin: Chef Jackie Lin's Michelin-starred Edomae sushi restaurant and the neighbourhood's premier culinary destination. Exceptional Japanese sourcing, meticulous technique and an intimate 200-year-old hinoki counter.

Pii Nong Thai: An expansive, design-conscious Thai restaurant serving regional dishes, curries, grilled meats and seafood. Particularly good for groups and lively dinners.

Baba: A stylish café by day and intimate cocktail and snack bar by night. One of the neighbourhood's newer and more sophisticated options.

The Abbot Pub & Fare: A cosy North Toronto gastropub operating since 2000, with house-made pub classics and genuine local character.

Belly Buster Submarines: The essential casual inclusion. This Toronto submarine institution has been feeding the neighbourhood since 1974 and remains a late-night favourite.
